Amelia's Room: Creating space in a narrow room.
We designed Amelia's room in a beautiful brownstone in Park Slope. We it would be best to build a loft bed with a large desk underneath, but since her room is so narrow, the bed was designed to be 7 inches narrower than our standard lofts. The ideal place for the loft bed was by the window, as the custom cut outs of the bed allow the majority of the natural light to enter the room unobstructed. To maximize storage space, we designed a custom "U" shaped staircase with seven drawers that Amelia can use for all of her belongings.
The natural birch finish provides a beautiful contrast to the darker colored floors.
Space is important to Amelia, which is why we designed this desk to span the entire length of the bed. In addition to the shallow shelves she has above the desk, there is plenty of open storage below where she can store her books and trophy collection.
On the right side of the room, we installed a large magnetic bulletin board. It's the perfect place for Amelia to display her favorite pictures, awards and artwork.
