We designed Rohan and Milan’s bunk bed to fit perfectly within the room’s existing niche to maximize use of this exceptionally small small space. The bed is a custom size (3” smaller than a standard twin), for which we provided custom mattresses. We engineered the beds, though smaller than standard, to manage the weight of adults so parents can climb up and down safely and comfortably. Smooth, round cutouts in the attached ladder ensure safe climbing for kids, too.
The adjacent wall houses a Tuck Bed, in this case, for visiting grandparents. We built extensive shelving and storage into the space surrounding the Tuck bed, as well as a kid-friendly desk.
The Tuck bed we installed, mounted vertically here, features a magnetic board where the brothers can display their latest creations. A shelf doubles as leg support when the bed is in use and the adjacent drawer is equipped with a pullout ledge, designed to function as a nightstand. The unit that houses the Tuck Bed and shelving is only 12 1/4” deep, maximizing storage and sleeping capacity while maintaining a spacious, uncluttered room.
